How Does EFT Work?
EFT-Electronic Fund Transfers, are processed using The Automated Clearing House (ACH). The ACH is a paperless funds transfer service of the Federal Reserve Banking System. The ACH EFT system provides for the inter-bank clearing of electronic entries for participating financial institutions. This service provides speed and efficiency in collecting one-time or recurring payments from customers.
Creating an electronic funds transfer on your customer's checking account is no more trouble than taking a credit card order. Customers simply supply you with the bank routing and account numbers from their checking or savings account. Your customers sign a one-time authorization form that you keep on file, which grants permission to deduct their payments from their bank, usually on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Telephone orders? A taped third-party verbal authorization from your customer will suffice.
Payments due you are then electronically debited directly from your customers checking account or savings account via the ACH and electronically credited to your business account on the due date...increasing cash flow and reducing receivables. What could be easier?
